Georgia Pit Bull Recieves Heroism Award

On Tuesday, July 24, 2012, Titan will receive the second runner-up for the Humane Society of the United States’ fifth annual Dogs of Valor Award.

In July 2011, Titan alerted his owner- John Benton- when his wife was unconscious on the floor with a bleeding head.

“He’d run up a few flights of steps and run back down just to keep me from going to let me know something was wrong,” said Benton.

Benton’s wife had suffered a brain aneurysm and fractured her skull. If Benton had not found her, Gloria would have suffered brain damage or died.

Titan came to the rescue again when he barked to wake Benton up at 4:30A.M. When Benton went downstairs to check on his wife, he found she had fallen. Gloria had broken her hip.

The HSUS Georgia senior state director- Jessica DuBois- will present Titan’s family with a crystal scroll plaque, a sterling silver pet tag by Bella Tocca Tags, and a $50 Humane Domain merchandise certificate.
