Grieving Pit Bull

On Friday, May 18, 2012, a male Pit Bull saw his female partner hit by a car. He stayed with her until the two dogs were finally picked up by an Animal Control officer on Saturday, May 19, 2012.

The male dog mourned for his female partner for over 14 hours. The female Pit Bull was the victim of a hit and run accident on South 16th Street in Phoenix, Arizona. The male refused to leave her side.

The dogs were there so long that a local business put out food and water for the living dog.

It took Animal Control over 14 hours to respond to the call to remove the dead dog’s body and take the male Pit Bull into custody. The is serious outrage as to why it took an Animal Control officers so long to respond to the call. An Animal Control officer says that picking up a dead animal is a standard procedure, and there is no urgency, even though a living dog sat surrounded by whizzing cars.

The male Pit Bull was wearing a harness, but so far, no one has come to claim him.

After 72 hours, the dog will be up for adoption, but currently, it’s said that he will be pulled by Lost Paws Rescue for rehabilitation to help him overcome his depression, as the Pit Bull is suffering severe withdrawal from his partner.
